Sistem cloud hosting sememangnya menjadi produk yang mampu berkembang dengan lebih jauh. Terbaharu, Google telah mengumumkan pelancaran produk terbaharu mereka iaitu Google Drive yang menawarkan 5GB storan percuma kepada pengguna. Kapasiti storan ini boleh diupgrade mencecah 1TB dengan harga $49.99 sebulan.

Dengan wujudnya produk Google Drive ini, sedikit sebanyak akan memberikan saingan kepada servis lain seperti Dropbox (2GB) dan SkyDrive (25GB). Sepertimana Dropbox, Google Drive akan mewujudkan satu folder khas dalam sistem fail komputer anda, dan mana-mana fail yang dimasukkan ke dalam folder berkenaan (drag and drop) akan di synchronize ke seluruh peranti anda.
Buat masa sekarang, Google Drive ditawarkan kepada pengguna Windows, Macs, dan Android (iPhone & iPad akan menyusul kemudian). Walau bagaimanapun, servis Google Drive belum lagi beroperasi sepenuhnya. Sekiranya anda cuba mendapatkan akses melalui akaun Gmail, anda akan dimaklumkan “Your Google Drive is not ready“.
Fungsi Yang Ditawarkan Google Drive
- Create and collaborate. Google Docs is built right into Google Drive, so you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Once you choose to share content with others, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and receive notifications when other people comment on shared items.
- Store everything safely and access it anywhere (especially while on the go). All your stuff is just… there. You can access your stuff from anywhere-on the web, in your home, at the office, while running errands and from all of your devices. You can install Drive on your Mac or PC and can download the Drive app to your Android phone or tablet. We’re also working hard on a Drive app for your iOS devices. And regardless of platform, blind users can access Drive with a screen reader.
- Search everything. Search by keyword and filter by file type, owner and more. Drive can even recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. Let’s say you upload a scanned image of an old newspaper clipping. You can search for a word from the text of the actual article. We also use image recognition so that if you drag and drop photos from your Grand Canyon trip into Drive, you can later search for [grand canyon] and photos of its gorges should pop up. This technology is still in its early stages, and we expect it to get better over time.

Kesimpulan
Secara peribadi, saya bertanggapan kemunculan servis Google Drive mampu memberikan saingan kepada penyedia servis seumpama yang sedia ada terutamanya Dropbox. Kemungkinan besar saya sendiri tidak akan tergak – agak untuk beralih kepada servis Google Drive daripada Dropbox kerana ruang storan yang lebih besar, fungsi drag and drop, dan easy access kerana menempatkan kebanyakan servis Google di satu tempat.

Sejurus selepas pelancaran Google Drive, Google turut mengumumkan penambahan ruang storan untuk servis Gmail sebanyak 33% dari 7.5GB ke 10GB.

Google Drive Kini Boleh Dimuat turun Ke PC Anda
Dapatkan aplikasi Google Drive di SINI.
Install dan ikuti langkah – langkah yang dikemukakan. Folder Google Drive akan dipaparkan di Desktop anda sekiranya anda menetapkan tetapannya secara default dan makluman tentang proses synchronize akan dipaparkan melalui icon di Taskbar.

Segala proses penyimpanan fail atau dokumen boleh dilakukan dengan drag and drop mana – mana fail yang diingini ke Folder Google Drive di desktop anda sepertimana aplikasi Dropbox.

Kalau guna betul2, tak perlu lagi bergantung pd physical drive nak simpan fail. Kalau dcari memang bleh dpt lebih dr 50GB storan free online
